When Computech went to the zoo, we had to go to certain stations and do a different activity at ever station. My favorite station was the one by the birds. This was an interactive station where everybody in the group got to participate. At this station, there were four different materials: Raisins, rubber bands, toothpicks, and paper clips. There were three different tools for each material: test tube holder, tweezers, and two popsicle sticks.
Each person got a tool at one of the materials, and had thirty seconds to pick up as much of the material as possible while using their tool. This helped to demonstrate how bird beaks adapt to different environments with different feeding materials. For example: The "bird" with two popsicle sticks as a beak probably would not survive very long in a place where raisins were the food.
